At the second attempt after heavy rain caused a postponement from the weekend before, the Club Men’s Singles tournament took place on Sunday September 22nd on a cloudy, but thankfully not wet, day.

There were 7 entries and each man played 6 games against the other six entrants, with short deuces. And playing on only 2 courts this worked out well giving everyone a break between matches. At the end of this round robin stage Bernd Schulze was top of the group with new member Paul Bruchou in second place, Malcolm Dow in 3rd and Rod Kay in 4th. For one of the semi finals Bernd will play Rod on Friday 27th September at 1pm and all members are cordially invited to watch this match.

The other semi final between Malcolm and Paul has already been played and it turned out to be an excellent game between two very closely matched players. After two very good sets with long rallies, Paul emerged the winner 7-6 (7-2), 6-3. Well done to him.

The final has not been organised yet but it is hoped can be played on Sunday September 29th.
