Kathy and Martin win round robin

The Good Friday round robin tournament was blessed with glorious weather this year, thank goodness, and this encouraged 16 players to enter.

With 8 pairs, for once with an equal number of men and women, it was possible to set up two Pools with each pair played three others in the usual round robin format.  It was great that new member Miles Firth as well as George and Chris who we met at the April 1st stall in Market Square played alongside older members.

At the end of the round robin Pool stage eight players with the most points played semi-finals –  Fang Liu & Californian Dave against Kathy Byra & Martin Kearns and also Paul Darwent & Helen Kearns against Danny Welbourne & Susan Lucas.   After close one-set matches, Kathy & Martin played Danny & Susan in the final – with Kathy and Martin winning easily. MANY CONGRATULATIONS to them.
