Matt and Bernd to play in Singles final

The two semi final matches in the Club’s Men’s Singles tournament have now been played, mostly in overcast and drizzly conditions, with Matt Cross and Bernd Schulze emerging as the winners.

Matt played new member James Sheppard last week and won convincingly and today last year’s champion Bernd played promising new member Mustafa Haider and also needed just two sets to win.  Both matches were played in a friendly atmosphere and with a number of very good, long rallies.  The scorelines in both semi finals did not reflect the matches.

Matt and Bernd will play their final when Matt returns from Glasgow University, where he has just started his degree studies, for a half term break in October.
