Pickleball

We have refurbished our mini court so we now offer Pickleball, a fun game especially suitable for beginners and older players. We were awarded a grant to pay for the net, balls & paddles & special paint needed to create the pickleball court through the Eric Wright Charitable Trust.

All Club members are very welcome to play this enjoyable game and we have a Pickleball only membership fee for anyone who doesn’t also want to play tennis. The time and day for drop in social sessions on has not yet been decided.

There is a Pickleball Whatsapp group to organise Club outdoor as well as indoor sessions at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre where courts are booked on Tuesdays at 8pm, and from April also at Lancaster Boys Grammar School on Thursday evenings . To join this group contact Sharon on email: [email protected] giving her your mob tel no. Charge at Salt Ayre and LRGS per hour for Club members & non-members is £3.50.

These sessions are primarily for adults, however young adults aged 13 – 17 years are welcome if accompanied by an adult e.g. family member/person responsible for them.

Club members can also join indoor sessions in the Sports Hall at the University of Cumbria throughout the year (organised informally through a separate WhatsApp group). Charge per hour is also £3.50 per person.

Play at other times on the outside Pickleball court can be booked by members on the court booking calendar – see here. And there are also sessions for U3A members now at 1pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, charge £2 per person, when weather and conditions allow.
