There was glorious sunshine all day on Saturday March 8th when two Lancaster University teams clashed at our Club. Organised really well by the current Mixed Doubles team captain, Dominic Boardman, former students now University graduates took on the current University team players. in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles.
The standard of play was very high with excellent rallies in competitive matches which some of our Club members and the other team players really enjoyed watching. Amongst the team of graduates was former Club member Tom Wiley who was our Club 2023 Singles Champion.
This is what organiser Dom has said:
” The LUTC Reunion is something that had been in the works for a little while. Bringing back past players to meet up with former teammates and meet the new crop of young players is fantastic.
The format was a classic ‘Current Team v Alumni’. Nearly 30 players were involved with lots of doubles played over a surprisingly warm afternoon. After some incredibly tight matches, it went down to the final 3 matches to decide who would win overall.
After 15 doubles matches, the alumni took it 8-7 overall, with it coming down to a match-tiebreak to decide. It was a brilliant day with alumni coming from as far afield as Luxembourg to join. Thank you for allowing us to run the reunion at LTC, as always, it was a joy. “
