Despite a dodgy weather forecast, the Good Friday tournament went ahead on April 3rd organised this year by member David Kay.
It was dry for the first 90 minutes then unfortunately it got progressively wetter. In the end there were some late arrivals making a total of 8 players – fewer than in previous years but more than expected in the drizzle.
The first round of doubles was played in the usual round robin format. The organisers were about to arrange a second round with the top 2 pairs and the bottom 2 pairs. Then the rain got heavier and flooded all 3 courts, so sadly play had to be suspended.
The prize winners were then taken from the points score – in 1st place was Rod Kay and in 2nd place was Sam Lockwood.
Thank you to David and Rod Kay for all their hard work, and to Susan Lucas for setting up the tournament in advance
