Happy New Year to all our tennis and pickleball members – with hopes for weather that allows us to play regularly throughout 2025. It was a shame that we had to cancel the December 22nd round robin tournament because of the wet & windy weather, but thanks a lot to our Club coach Michael Cartmell for setting it up.
As we enter the new year, our fantastic LED lights have been installed – and thanks VERY much to Steve Garland for all his hard work in sorting this out. They should make evening & night play much more enjoyable. And Malcolm Dow and Steve are working hard to find a way to improve all our courts to make them less slippery, even after heavy rain.
And as we enter the second half of the Lancaster League Veterans season, our one team Lancaster Eagles has a massive lead at top of the table – and it seems highly likely that a Lancaster team will retain the trophy we won in the 2023/4 season. Well done to all the players and thank you to captain Derek Metcalfe for all his hard work:

AND Steve Garland announced at our December AGM that he plans to stand down as Chair. Thanks very much to him for all his hard work as Chair over the last 5+ years. So we need a Club member to offer to take on this role – not too much involved, honest! Mostly chairing the Club Committee (which meets 3 or 4 times a year) as well as the December AGM. Secretary Susan Lucas does most of the background work, preparing papers and the agenda. Finally, Membership Secretary Sandra Eccles (from January 2nd to late February), Steve Garland (Chair and maintenance – end of January to end February) and Treasurer Susan Lucas (January 4th to March 4th) will be abroad for the dates above. Sandra and Susan will have email access during these dates, but Steve won’t.
